Gateway Inc has come out with its all-in-one desktop personal computer called Profile. It runs on an AMD K62 processor at 400 megabyte RAM, 24 speed CD-ROM, 4.3-gigabyte hard disk, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller, and a 15-inch active matrix LCD display. The PC is targeted at a wide range of users.

>Y2K Solution
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has embarked on a two phased computerisation
exercise to bring its information tecnology (IT) systems to full Year 2000 (Y2K)
compliant status. About RM5.5 million has been allocated for the upgrade exercise, of which
RM3.9 million is for Phase One and RM1.6 million for Phase Two. Phase One kicked off in mid 1997,
mainly to address compliance issues of its critical corporate information systems, which comprise
the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and Registrar of Business (ROB) application systems.
Phase Two of the Y2K project started since mid-last year too and is expected to be completed in November this year.
Phase Two are mainly involves the upgrading of the mini computer system at the Intellectual Property Division (IPD)
and Enforcement Division (ED) respectively, as well as the redevelopement of the file movement system and consumer's
report system. Other than this, Y2K work for Phase Two also involves replacement and upgrading work for 105 units of personal
computer in the Ministry and upgrading of its receipt machine application system at the ROC, ROB and IPD respectively.

that enables them to track a series of events that appeals to their interests. The Web site will have the distinction of being not only the
first event publishing engine in the Asia-Pacific region, but also the first Web self-service application to be developed in Malaysia.
